Events at BosMUN XI
BosMUN XI Events
BosMUN XI’s focus on the delegate experience continues beyond our excellent committee sessions. Our events have been completely revamped this year, and are intended to allow delegates (and advisors!) to get the most out of their time at BosMUN. These events facilitate interaction among delegates, advisors, and BU student staff from across the country and around the world. They also allow delegates and advisors to expand and improve their knowledge of Model UN.

The panelists will then answer questions on advanced Model UN tactics from delegates and advisors in the audience.
Opening Ceremonies (6:30 – 7:30 PM) – Imperial Ballroom
At 6:30 on Friday evening, all delegates and advisors are invited to join us for opening ceremonies. Held in the largest ballroom in the hotel, opening ceremonies will include an introduction to the secretariat and staff and an address from the Secretary-General. Following this, we will welcome Jon Shaffer, Community Engagement Coordinator for Partners in Health, as our keynote speaker. Partners in Health works to bring health and social justice to poor communities in twelve countries around the world, not as an act of charity but as a fulfillment of fundamental human rights. Through long-term partnerships with local governments and organizations, Partners in Health provides comprehensive primary medical care services, as well as treatment for complex diseases like HIV and tuberculosis.
Their work starts with medical care, but it doesn’t end there. Fighting disease in impoverished settings means fighting the root of ill health: poverty. Partners in Health works to provide food packages to needy patients and their families. They replace tumble-down shacks made of sticks and mud with modest but sturdy homes with tin roofs and concrete floors. They build reliable sources of safe drinking water for our communities. They enable children to attend school. Partners in Heath provides access to training and support to help its patients return to their fields or to launch small businesses to help pull themselves out of poverty. Partners in Health is paving the way for international organizations to make comprehensive, lasting change in countries around the world.
Finally, the conference will be ceremonially opened and delegates will be sent off to prepare for our first committee session.
