Committee Overview
India, one of today’s strongest emerging economies, is facing many challenges domestically and abroad. One of the most formidable opponents to the government remains the Communist Party of India. The terrorist tactics of the Indian Naxalite movement continue to be, as they have been for many years, a threat to innocent lives and to the central government’s control of the various regions of the country. As the leaders of India, this committee’s members will be responsible for dealing with the Maoist terrorist threat. While it is in the country’s best interest to defeat the threat of Communist terrorism, corruption still plagues much of the government, adding another level of complexity to handling the issue. The Indian Cabinet Secretariat is charged with responding to major crisis situations; India’s safety is in the hands of this committee.
