Committee Overview
Maoist groups have been fighting against the central government of India since the 1960s in response to the government’s exploitation and abuse of the local population in support of corporations, particularly in the mining industry. While their momentum waned since then, there has been a recent resurgence of fervor in the past decade, as various Maoist groups have gained strength in the eastern provinces of India and joined forces to form the Communist Part of India (Maoist). This committee consists of the leadership of the groups of this organization, and strives to combat capitalism and gain attention for their cause. The Communist Party of India must deal with internal unity, its public image, and the methods it chooses to combat the Indian government.
