Committee Overview

The Second World War was the single most destructive event in human history. The war saw the two cruelest regimes in history, the Third Reich and the Soviet Union, exterminate humans by the millions in attempts to expand their empires, then in attempts to survive, and finally in attempts to annihilate simply for the sake of annihilation. Between these two looming powers, Finland was forced to make the ultimate decision of which was the lesser of two evils. In March of 1940, Finland has already lost the Winter War to the Soviets after a truly impressive resistance. It is now in what most understand is only an interim peace. Finland has a history of fighting the Soviets and the Russians before them, but is also aware of Nazi designs on European domination. The committee will attempt have to deal with the looming threat of the Soviet Union while attempting to seek support from abroad, and must decide whether to ask for support from Nazi Germany or confronting the Soviet colossus alone.
