Commission on Narcotic Drugs

The Commission on Narcotic Drugs was created to operate globally against the spread of illegal drugs and associated crimes. The Commission’s three main aims include providing technical expertise to member states fighting the global War on Drugs, leading research and analysis for increased information about drugs and crimes, and assisting states in creating legislation and international treaties against drugs and related terrorism. With these aims in mind, the Commission creates policies to implement across the world against drug-related crimes. The Commission also works with the World Health Organization in placing drugs in schedules which classify them according to accepted principles and help determine punishments for usage or possession of each drug.
