Boston University’s 23rd Model United Nations Conference

Friday, February 2 — Sunday, February 4, 2024

A BOSTON UNIVERSITY INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS ASSOCIATION CONFERENCE

Boston University Model United Nations Conference, or BosMUN, is a three-day simulation of the United Nations hosted by Boston University for high school students. BosMUN XXIII will be held from Friday, February 2nd to Sunday, February 4th, 2024. The upcoming conference marks the twenty third anniversary of BosMUN. This great achievement would not be possible without the Boston University International Affairs Association, as well as the staffers, delegates, and advisors of past and present.

Letter from the Secretary-General

Dear Advisors and Delegates,

It is my distinct pleasure to welcome you all to the twenty-third installation of the Boston University Model United Nations Conference! My name is Simona Simeonova, and I am incredibly honored to serve as your Secretary General for BosMUN XXIII. I, along with the rest of the Secretariat, are thrilled to host you at the Boston Marriott Copley Place from February 2nd - 4th, 2024.

I was born and raised in Sofia, Bulgaria and moved to Sarasota, Florida when I was 7 years old. I began my journey in Model United Nations in middle school, my passion being sparked by my history teacher at the time. Over the years I have been able to use all of the skills from this amazing activity to help shape me into the person I am today. Before I even set foot onto Boston University’s campus I knew I wanted to one day lead this conference, and here I am today fulfilling my dream. It is the honor of a lifetime to be trusted in developing, maintaining, and executing such an amazing conference. It is through the support of FHSMUN, FMSMUN and MUN@BU that I have been able to find my voice and passion for this wonderful extracurricular activity. Therefore, it is my vision for BosMUN XXIII to be a place for Delegates to Find Themselves. This will be a conference where students can flourish and grow; to discover new parts of themselves through Model UN. A place to take risks, think outside the box, and make a difference. I encourage every delegate, regardless of experience level, to embrace their journey.

BosMUN XXIII promises you, the advisors and delegates, to create an environment that will foster collaboration and growth, while being welcoming to all delegates. Unfortunately, Model UN can be an activity which can be hostile to minority populations, so we are making it a priority to acknowledge personal biases, and work towards eradicating them within ourselves and our community. Above anything else, it is our mission to make BosMUN feel safe and encouraging to every single delegate, advisor, and member of the staff. With that, BosMUN will be partnering with a mutual aid for this installment that represents the same ideals that we aim to embody with this conference.

New and exciting changes will be coming to BosMUN XXIII to make this already amazing conference even better and more welcoming to everyone. If you are a new school, feel free to reach out and inquire about this conference and I, along with the rest of the Secretariat, would love to chat with you about it. If you are a returning school that is still considering attending BosMUN XXIII, I promise you that you will not want to miss this conference.

I would like to thank all of you for your support and interest in BosMUN. Over the past 23 years, this conference has grown tremendously, and it is because of you. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me directly, so that I may support you in any way possible.

I look forward to welcoming you all in person in February, but until then, we will be working hard to make sure that your experience at our conference is both positive and enriching.

Diplomatically

Simona Simeonova
